Brown Leather Swivel Chair. Nice condition.
$15 in Lenexa. Here’s the link: Vintage Mid-Century Modern Chair.
Naugahyde Couch. Made from the hide of the great American Nauga. It is probably in better shape than it looks, though the color is tricky. Still, the price is nice.
$25 in Kansas City. Here’s the link: Naugahyde Couch.
Barrel Chairs. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. With the diamond pattern? And the whiskey barrel shape? And there are four of them? They come with some kind of game table. They belong in your rec room. You would have all sorts of parties with these. They are that kind of awesome. Invite me over to lose at a poker game, and maybe you’ll earn enough off me to offset the steep price here.
$350 in Mission, KS. Here’s the link: Retro Whiskey Barrel Chairs.

Take a road trip on this pretty fall weekend, and get something new and cool in Kansas City.
Tiered End Tables.
$25 in South Kansas City. Here’s the link: 1950′s Retro Blonde End Tables.

Black Cattail Lamp. Has a problem with the switch, so it might not work correctly.
$10 in Prairie Village. Here’s the link: Retro 1950s Cattail Table Lamp.
Orange Leather Rocker. Delivery is available.
$70 in Overland Park. Here’s the link: Orange Leather Rocker.
Floor Lamp. That’s a pretty cool looking fiberglass shade. I don’t know if it’s working or not.
$25 in South Kansas City. Here’s the link: Electric Lamp.
Iroquois Dishes. I like this style and I think it might be a good price even though it’s not complete and some of the dishes have cracks.
$15 in Overland Park. Here’s the link: Everyday Dishes.
Small Steel Desk. You don’t have to get a full-sized tanker desk to have the industrial style. This would probably be great in a kitchen or entryway.
$25 in Basehor. Here’s the link: Small Steel Desk.

Paul McCobb Dining Set. If you have $3000 to spend on a mid-century modern dining set, this one is slightly imperfect. But Paul McCobb is a major name in mid-century modern design. This isn’t the only expensive mid-century modern item I’ve found on Craigslist today, but I love it.
$3000 in Overland Park. Here’s the link: Paul McCobb Dining Set.
Walnut Tiered Side Tables. It’s hard to see what the design of these looks like, but the wood looks beautiful.
$150 in Liberty. Here’s the link: Solid Walnut Tiered Side Tables.

China Cabinet. Looks enormous, nice condition.
$177 in Overland Park. Here’s the link: Display, China, or Book Case.
Phonograph. I think it’s working. Small and cute, plays 78s and LPs.
$40 in Overland Park. Here’s the link: Vintage Phonograph.

Lamp. Love the blue! Working!
$15 in Drexel, Missouri (about an hour south of Kansas City). Here’s the link: Floral Lamp.

Planning your road trip to Kansas City this weekend:
Dinette/dining set with chairs and table. This is admittedly very 70s and a little past my preferred style, but it is modern. And vintage. And kind of awesome. I bet these chairs are super comfortable. You need a big stained glass hanging light over the table too (something like this, but maybe bigger and more gaudy- lots of jewel tones. But that’s just in my mind).
$45 in the Kansas City Northland. Here’s the link: Kitchen Table Set.
Nice looking curio shelf. I love the atomic star detail. I bought something very similar to this a few months ago and I’m planning to hang it up this very evening and fill it with my vintage cameras.
$50 in Prairie Village, Kansas. Here’s the link: Huge Retro Wall Hanging Mirror with Shelves.

TV stand from the 1950s, complete with casters. The seller says it measures 27″ wide. You could use this as a TV stand if your TV fits, but you could also use it as a spot for your printer or as an end table. The possibilities are limitless! Well, they’re not limitless. But there are probably more possibilities than you think. This is the second time I’ve seen this one posted.
$20 in Overland Park, Kansas. Here’s the link: Retro 1950′s TV Stand.

Stereo console with working turntable. I like these as furniture- you can use the top for decorations or as a television stand (depending on how heavy your TV is, anyway), use the turntable if it works or strip out the nonworking electronics and retrofit some new speakers and an iPod dock inside. Pretty cool. But this one works, so don’t break it. It does appear to come with a few old albums.
$60 in Richmond, Missouri (about 30 minutes northeast of Kansas City). Here’s the link: Cabinet Stereo with Albums.

Full bedroom set, all matching 1960s, and a good price. I’ve included photos of the headboard and the dresser with mirror. The seller also lists a matching footboard, additional chest of drawers, and 2 nightstands (along with the full-size mattress & boxspring). Though most vintage headboards are full-sized, there are people who can retrofit them to queen- or king-sized mattresses, and that might be worth it. (I would find the footboard unnecessary- perhaps you could use it to extend the headboard.) This was posted a few days ago, but check into it anyway.
$400 in Overland Park. Here’s the link: Queen Bed Set.

On Fridays, I’m going to do a round-up of stuff from the St. Louis & Kansas City Craigslist postings from the last day or two. Columbia is just two hours from either of these large cities, both of which have a lot to offer as far as mid-century furnishings. I’ve been debating whether to regularly scour these listings or not, but I think I’ve determined to only do this on Fridays, because what better way to spend your weekend than in the car on an impromptu road trip to pick up something great?
What up, Kansas City?
This Danish Modern side chair is $65 and looks like it’s in good condition.
Vintage 1950s steel desk for $50 in Olathe. I love the tiered design!
I’m loving this bright yellow chair with its nice lines. $75 in Independence.
A vintage Steelcase-style desk chair. The seller lists it as 80s-style, but it’s based on a 60s Knoll design. I’m not sure if it’s missing an armrest on its right arm or if it’s just a trick of the light/bad photo, but hey, $10!
I saw a couple of chrome tables like this one today. This is $100, which is about average price for a vintage 50s Formica-topped chrome kitchen table in our area. Looks like it’s in nice condition. I would hold out for one with matching vinyl chairs- they’re much harder to find, especially if the seats & backs aren’t ripped up. I’ve seen a few this summer on Craigslist in Columbia, so maybe keep an eye out. Or I’ll do it for you!
