Philco Stereo Console. Seller says that the turntable works but isn’t sure about the radio. I like the style of this one- the top is mostly solid and the stereo is accessed through the front rather than the top.
$25 in Vienna (40 minutes south of Jefferson City). Here’s the link: Vintage Philco Stereo.
Tiered End Tables. Nice clean style with tapered legs, but it’s hard to tell the condition.
$10 each or $15 together in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage End Tables.
Loveseat Set. This looks like one couch, but it’s actually two pieces. Both are pull-out sofas. The fabric is swell, but it’s hard to tell the condition or what the actual style is like. You’ll have to push for more pictures or go see it yourself.
$100 in Columbia. Here’s the link: (COUCH) Very Nice Vintage.
Heywood Wakefield Bamboo Set. Includes couch, two chairs, coffee table, side table, lamp, and ashtray holder, though I would check on those because I do not think that Heywood Wakefield made lamps or ashtray holders, and I think this price is high. I am not a HeyWake nut, though, so I don’t really know. The upholstery is all matching vintage barkcloth.
$1500 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Heywood Wakefield Set.
Pepsi Sign. This gets into the gray area of what is vintage and what is not, but I don’t care what you say. It’s my blog and I’ll do what I want! It reminds me of arcade games and pizza and sodas with shaved ice, and now I want one of these signs for myself. I would put it up in my kitchen.
$40 in Sedalia. Here’s the link: Pepsi Sign.
Stereo Console. Walnut cabinet with radio, turntable, and 8-track.
$150 OBO in Rolla (about 1.5 hours southeast of Columbia; Lake of the Ozarks Craigslist). Here’s the link: Stereo Console.
Adjustable Stools. Originally used in a dentist’s office. They don’t exactly match, but that’s ok. I like the industrial look and think they would make great barstools if you had a really masculine vintage minimalist thing going on already.
$35 each OBO in Kirksville (about 1.5 hours north of Columbia; Kirksville Craigslist). Here’s the link: High Quality Computer Chairs/Stools.
Local Craigslist
Black Vinyl Chair. Swivels! I love this and I bet it’s already gone. Even before I posted this, it’s gone, because it’s that cool. But you can find this kind of thing in mid-Missouri- see? And at this price.
$35 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Vinyl Chair.
Bentwood Potato Chip Chair. That’s what these are referred to as- potato chip chairs. This isn’t name brand at all, and it looks like there’s some damage to the veneer there, but for this price, stop complaining.
$20 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Desk Chair.
Kitchen Set. When I started this blog, I didn’t intend to include much from the 1970s. Then something like this comes along. I love it. Seller says there are 4 chairs and the table has a leaf. Nice. I bet those chairs are comfortable too.
$150 in Sunrise Beach (Lake of the Ozarks Craigslist). Here’s the link: Kitchen Table w/ leaf & 4 chairs.
Coke Machine. I am a sucker for posting these old Coke machines, as we’ve already seen. This one works except for the compressor, so it does not actually keep the bottles cold. But it will fit either glass or plastic bottles. Maybe you can fix it? Seller might negotiate price but will deliver.
$500 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Coke Machine.
Bedroom Set. This is one where it’s hard to tell what it is or what kind of condition it’s in, but from the look of the vanity, it’s possibly a streamlined waterfall style. The price is good and includes full-size bed frame, highboy dresser, and vanity with big round mirror. You probably already know that I adore those vanities with the big round mirrors. I do- I love them.
$100 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Bedroom Set.
Local Craigslist
Retro Bed/Couch Combo. Looks like a sectional to me. Must have some kind of convertible bed thing going on. This is perfect for your basement, but if you buy it, you are now obligated to call your basement the “rumpus room”. I’m sorry, but those are the rules. Also, invite me over and we can drink Dr. Pepper and play Sorry.
$195 in Columbia at Hardt’s Used Furniture. Here’s the link: Retro Couch/Bed Combo.
Vintage Cooler. I think it’s an ice bucket, actually, but I love red Scotch plaid.
$10 in Lake Ozark. Here’s the link: Scotch Cooler (on Lake of the Ozark Craigslist).
Herman Miller Chairs. Polypropelene stacking shell chairs. Seller lists three of them, but only two are pictured. Seller says they’re in average to fair condition, but prices them at $150. These do fetch a good price, though, and the seller is willing to ship.
$150 in Rocky Mount (near Eldon, about 1.3 hrs from Columbia).
Here’s the link: Herman Miller Poly Stack Chairs (on Lake of the Ozark Craigslist).
Hexagonal End Tables. Yes, this one gets two pictures, but that’s just because I’m a sucker for 70s hexagons and it’s just poorly photographed enough that you can’t tell what you’re seeing. I think it’s slightly weird that the seller didn’t empty out the middle of the end table when photographing, but that’s par for the Craigslist course. Here’s what they’re perfect for: interstellar docking stations for your Astronaut Barbies. While acting out Alien or Space Odyssey or something very minimalistic and spooky. All good Barbie stories end in tragic deaths. Or, you know, store stuff in there. Like your bong collection. Whatever. God, I want these.
$20 in Columbia. Here’s the link: 70s Retro Table.
Lemon Yellow Vintage 60s
I am playing catch-up this week after a few weeks of illness and malaise and recuperation. Sorry for the absence, though I have done a few searches in the meantime and I haven’t seen that we’ve missed much. But look what is still available down in Osage Beach! Why is this still waiting around when it should be all loved up in a new somebody’s house? Lemon yellow vinyl, folks! I don’t want to see this one posted again. It makes me sad because it’s too gorgeous for words. Go buy it.
Retro Kitchen Dinette Set (Lake of the Ozarks Craigslist). I love lemon yellow vinyl from the 1960s.
You know what? I’ll decorate your entire sunroom for you. Buy this and that fantastic lemon yellow bar down at Funtiques in Springfield, and you’ve got yourself a room. Then you have to invite me over. I will wear a beehive and a muumuu and frosted pink lipstick and we will drink lemonade (or, ooh, let’s have Tom Collinses) together while we ignore our children and smoke skinny cigarettes. And that is a crazy fantasy because I don’t have any kids and I don’t smoke. But if you bought all this for your house, I would rent a child to ignore with you, and then I would pretend to smoke skinny cigarettes. We would have a great time, you and me, in your sunroom.
Here is the bar you need:
Ooh, buy that TV too. We can watch soap operas on it. I don’t like soap operas, but we can’t not watch soap operas on that TV in this fictional room at your house. (Like how this is all happening at your house?) Anything else would be wrong and ridiculous.
And here is a swag lamp that you can hang up in there:
Vintage Swag Lamp (Columbia Craigslist).
This is making me ache for summer! And I even love winter, so I don’t know what that’s about. Lemonade and swimming pools and white plastic sunglasses. I swear, you and I will be best friends because I will want to hang out in your lemon yellow sunroom all the time.
How’s it coming? Bought this stuff yet? Let me know the minute you do.
I would blame all of this on lingering effects of the flu, but honestly this is just how I get around lemon yellow vintage 60s stuff. It makes me giddy with delight.
Columbia Craigslist
Welcome to 2010!
I found a few odd items on Craigslist this week that I thought I would share. Maybe you are in dire need of something like this!
Something like a Detecto Baby Scale! Maybe you have a plethora of babies that you need to weigh on a regular basis. I don’t know your life. It has a 30-lb capacity, so maybe you could weigh small dogs and cats and random household objects. I just like that it’s blue and kind of stylish and has the name “Detecto”.
$50 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Detecto Baby Scale.
Hutch. This looks like a nice piece with the glass and the tapered legs, and a bottle of Restor-A-Finish would probably clean up most of the dings and scratches without too much trouble. And these don’t come up that often in this area, though the price still seems a little high. But I am not a dealer.
$300 in Eldon. Here’s the link: Hutch.
Drainboard and Sink. I recently saw something like this installed in a beautiful new kitchen. It was integrated seamlessly into the countertops and cabinetry, and looked really cool. There’s a lot to be said about a nice sink like this with the drainboard. We had one growing up, and there was never any fear of water ruining the countertops around the sink. Something to think about! (And if you buy this and put it in your vintage house, you better send me the pictures.)
$125 in Jefferson City. Here’s the link: Antique Vintage Drainboard Kitchen Sink.
Waterfall Bedroom Set. I have a love for the cheap waterfall bedroom sets of the 1930s & 1940s, mostly because I have a set in my own house (some of the first furniture I ever bought for myself when I was in college). This stuff is hard to refinish because of the veneer, but mine cleaned up beautifully with Restor-A-Finish. Included in the set is a highboy dresser, a vanity with seat, and a full size bed.
$450 in Hannibal. Here’s the link: 30′s/40′s Curved Front Bedroom Set.
End Table. Tiered, with veneer and tapered legs, but I like the hourglass shape to the supports on the top. Nice!
$10 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage End Table.
Weekend Craigslist Roundup
I am home from a weekend out of town! I got to visit an awesome vintage store in Springfield, Missouri. I took a bunch of photos and I look forward to posting them with a review later this week.
In the meantime, I’ll round up a few items from local Craigslists from the long weekend.
Thonet Bentwood Rocking Chair! Talk about vintage 1970 style. It’s a statement to have one of these in your vintage home.
$150 in Lake Ozark (south of Osage Beach). Here’s the link: Bentwood Rocker (on the Lake of the Ozarks Craigslist).
Vintage Steel Desks. The seller has several of these and a bunch of industrial metal filing cabinets.
$50 in Jefferson City. Here’s the link: Metal Office Desk. (And here’s a link to the post about the filing cabinets.)
Flexsteel Rocker Recliners. We’re all about the 1970s today at Retro CoMO! These would warm up your home this fall with the comfortable rocking/reclining action and the burnt orange color. I can’t tell what shape the upholstery is in, but it doesn’t look like it’s ripped up.
$20 in West Jefferson City. Here’s the link: Flexsteel Rockers/Recliners.
Vintage Hutch/Display Cabinet. Perfect for your dining room to display your collection of vintage Pyrex. Looks like it is in nice condition, maple wood, with handles intact. Are the door handles star-shaped? I can’t quite tell and wish that Craigslist photography would improve overall.
$75 in New Bloomfield. Here’s the link: Display Cabinet.
Vintage Chair. This one looks like it needs some love. That armrest is not actually attached to the chair (the guy is holding it on) and the upholstery needs to be redone, but I bet it would not be too difficult to reupholster this yourself since it has straight edges, more or less. But what do I know? I am very good about telling you about all these projects that you could do, and very bad about doing them myself. It’s the enabler in me. Still, it’s only $15.
$15 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Chair.
Vintage Stove in Salisbury
I like vintage stoves. It might be hard to find a replacement part for one if it breaks, but they were built to last. And if you’re willing to pay for it, it’s probably not that hard to have someone manufacture a replacement part if you need it.

Vintage GE Stove. 1950s style, working condition. I love the detail and it looks like it’s in really nice shape.
$100 in Salisbury. (I don’t know why they put it on the Lake of the Ozarks Craigslist. Salisbury is about 45-60 minutes northwest of Columbia, and it would have made more sense to list this on the Columbia or Kirksville Craigslist.)
Here’s the link: 1950′s Vintage Stove.
Dinette Set in Osage Beach
This item is one of the reasons I started this blog.
I have seen this posted at least two other times, and it needs a good home!
It’s a road trip away in Osage Beach, Missouri (which is in the Lake of the Ozarks area, about 1.5 hours from Columbia), listed for $300, which is on the high end of a reasonable price for what looks like excellent condition with the original vinyl in a bright pretty color. (All those matching buttons!)
Seller says there’s a chair, a corner chair, a two-seater bench and a three-seater bench, along with the table. Seller is pretty specific and includes table measurements.
Here’s the link (on the Lake of the Ozarks Craigslist): 50′s Looking Retro Kitchen Table/Dinette Set.
