Jeannette Carnival Egg Nog Bowl. You were going to swig the eggnog directly from the cardboard carton, I know, but this is much more festive. Complete with bowl and six cups.
$20 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Jeannette Carnival Egg Nog Set.
Desk. Looks like an industrial style with tapered legs, and not too huge.
$30 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Desk.
File Cabinet. Heavy duty, perfect for craft supplies.
$10 in Columbia. Here’s the link: File Cabinet.
Orange Couch in Columbia
Orange Sleeper Sofa! It looks like it’s missing a couple of buttons in the tufted section on the back, but otherwise the vinyl is in good condition.
$45 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Awesome Orange Couch.
Columbia Craigslist
Here’s a roundup of items from the last few days on Columbia Craigslist!
Vintage Blond Dresser. Not in great shape, and it looks like the handles are replacements (but they’re from Anthropologie, so they’re bound to be as cute as they look).
$45 in SW Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage dresser/chest of drawers.
Set of Black Bentwood Chairs. I like bentwood designs and this one is a little unusual. The paint looks a bit uneven, but that can be fixed. I like the caning too.
$15 each ($60 for the set- don’t break them up!) in SW Columbia. Here’s the link: Black bentwood chairs.
School Desk. I like the lines! Am I crazy, or does it have really cool lines? I can’t see the base, but it looks like it would go well in a mid-century modern house, especially one with a child. Or not! Maybe you need a desk like this for your own art projects.
$20 in Holts Summit. Here’s the link: Old desk/chalkboard.
End Table. One sad, lonely end table all by itself. I like the lines and the handle. It would be a happier end table with a new coat of paint or at least some Restor-A-Finish. But you can’t beat the price, especially if you’re already in Jeff city. It would work in either a bedroom or a living room, too.
$5 in Jefferson City. Here’s the link: End Table.
Typewriter Table. I bought one of these for my office a few months ago, and it is perfect for my wireless printer with extra space to store a stock of paper on the side. I like its vintage industrial style and also its very small footprint. And if you ever need a tiny table for your laptop, that’s what this was made for.
$15 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Small Metal Table.
Columbia Craigslist
Yellow Rocker. Really cool with that side detail! I like it. The upholstery looks like it’s in good shape, and all the buttons seem to be included. Nice.
$65 in Columbia. Here’s the link: 1950′s Yellow Rocker.
Cedar Chest. I’ve seen a few of these come up with the mid-century detailing. It’s nice to have a cedar chest for blankets and wool clothes. I love the cedar smell.
$85 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Lane Blonde Cedar Chest.
Blonde Chairs. 3 chairs- two without arms and one with arms (I like it when they call them Captain’s Chairs). Nice upholstery, I think.
$45 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Blonde Chairs.
Vintage Chairs. Two of them, and the seller says they’re in good shape. I like the vinyl lace design. These would be nice for a kitchen. I’m sure that’s where they’re from.
$35 in Columbia. Here’s the link: 2 Vintage Chairs.

Heavy wood office desk.
$75 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Office desk.
Yellow Formica Table.
$50 in Jefferson City. Here’s the link: Vintage Formica Kitchen Table.
Formica Table and Green Chairs. We’ve seen a few sets with these more 70s style vinyl chairs lately. I’m loving them, and the detail on the tabletop.
$50 in Eldon. Here’s the link: Retro Dining Table & Chairs.
Vintage Canister Set in Columbia

Kromex aluminum canister set available in Columbia for $25!
It looks like a complete set, though there is some damage to the Sugar and Salt containers. Still, pretty cool collection!
Here’s the link: Vintage Kromex Canister Set.
Vintage Yellow Chairs in Columbia

4 Vintage Yellow Chairs. Very 70s! I bet they’re comfortable too.
$65 and they deliver. Here’s the link: Vintage Kitchen Chairs.
Love Seat in Columbia

Danish Love Seat in Columbia! Clean lines, tapered legs. Nice!
$65 and they will deliver. Here’s the link: Vintage Love Seat.
1002 Locust St., Columbia
I walk by this building at 1002 Locust Street in Columbia every day, and I love it, but I don’t know much about it. I know that it was used as a dentist’s office for many years, but it is empty now. I fear that someone will knock it down at some point, which will make me angry.
I took some photos earlier this fall, and here they are for your viewing pleasure.
This is the front of the building, facing Locust Street to the north.
This is the south side of the building, facing Elm Street. You can see some period plantings there- I think the yucca was pretty standard for the time, and I’ve heard that it’s pretty hard to get rid of it once it’s there.
Same with English ivy- invasive!
The condition of the wood makes me sad.
This is the west side of the building, facing 10th Street.
I love the lines of this building.
I love the detail in the bricks.
I have a secret desire to rent this building and sell some retro furniture and accessories. I think about it every time I walk past this building on the way to my day job. That sounds sad and depressing, but honestly I know I wouldn’t do very well as a small business owner. I would buy things because I love them and then I would hope that no one would buy them from me. And I would rent this building because of its architecture, not because it would be a good spot for a junk store. Know thyself! It’s how you don’t waste money on small business loans when you don’t have the heart of a small business owner!
One last photo with the detail from the door on the west side. I love this!
