Black Vinyl Chair. Swivels! I love this and I bet it’s already gone. Even before I posted this, it’s gone, because it’s that cool. But you can find this kind of thing in mid-Missouri- see? And at this price.
$35 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Vinyl Chair.
Bentwood Potato Chip Chair. That’s what these are referred to as- potato chip chairs. This isn’t name brand at all, and it looks like there’s some damage to the veneer there, but for this price, stop complaining.
$20 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Desk Chair.
Kitchen Set. When I started this blog, I didn’t intend to include much from the 1970s. Then something like this comes along. I love it. Seller says there are 4 chairs and the table has a leaf. Nice. I bet those chairs are comfortable too.
$150 in Sunrise Beach (Lake of the Ozarks Craigslist). Here’s the link: Kitchen Table w/ leaf & 4 chairs.
Coke Machine. I am a sucker for posting these old Coke machines, as we’ve already seen. This one works except for the compressor, so it does not actually keep the bottles cold. But it will fit either glass or plastic bottles. Maybe you can fix it? Seller might negotiate price but will deliver.
$500 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Coke Machine.
Bedroom Set. This is one where it’s hard to tell what it is or what kind of condition it’s in, but from the look of the vanity, it’s possibly a streamlined waterfall style. The price is good and includes full-size bed frame, highboy dresser, and vanity with big round mirror. You probably already know that I adore those vanities with the big round mirrors. I do- I love them.
$100 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Bedroom Set.

I am home again! June was a really crazy month, but it was almost entirely wonderful. I spent the first half of it on a trip through Montana and Wyoming to the Yellowstone National Park area, indulging in my photography obsession. (You can see me upload pictures as I process them on my Flickr account here.) I came home and immediately went to a weekend family reunion, after which I returned to work for a few days but was sick with some kind of cold/flu bug that my family was passing around all month while both my work and home computers had to be completely rebuilt (oh so fun). And then I left for a work trip to Washington, DC, where I attended a conference and then stayed on to see family & friends there. I literally just returned last night.
Now it is July, and I am ready to be back to a normal life routine. Part of that is updating this blog with all the great stuff that is available in our area in mid-Missouri. (We are so lucky to live in this lush, green, beautiful, rolling countryside!)
Thank you for the notes that some of you sent while I was gone! I really appreciate hearing from you and I’m glad that there are others who love mid-century modernism as much as I do. I’m sorry if I didn’t respond to your email directly, but June was hectic. I am glad to be home and feeling healthy, just in time for a three-day holiday weekend!
I won’t depress us by revisiting items that we missed while I was gone, but here’s a roundup of stuff on Craigslist from the past few days. Take a look!
Old Electric Fans. The seller set a price of $30, but it is unclear whether that is per item or for the lot. I would guess that is per item, but that is not a bad deal because I like them. Seller also has a small vintage box fan. All of these are in working condition though one has a bad cord (seller does not clarify which one). And seller is willing to trade for a men’s bicycle.
$30 in Moberly, Missouri. Here’s the link: Old Electric Fans.
Retro Chair. I am always on the lookout for a decent swivel rocker in the right color. This isn’t the one for me, but maybe it is for you! Can’t beat a swivel rocker if you’re the jittery type that likes to sit (like me!) Seller says that color is olive green with a little fading on the seat.
$25 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Retro Chair.
1960s Range/Oven. This is so cool that I can’t even stand it, but the price is insane even for this level of awesomeness. Still, take a look at the other images to see that the range slides out like a drawer and those are the ovens on top with the glass doors. The patterns on the glass are amazing, the handle is amazing. If I had the right kitchen (and $1000 bucks for one vintage appliance), I would snap this up.
$1000 in Columbia. Here’s the link: 1960 Stove Top/Oven.
Antique Pedal Car. So cute, so vintage modern! Love it. Seller reports that it is in very good condition.
$195 in Jefferson City, Missouri. Here’s the link: Antique Pedal Car.
Vintage General Television. The only full size picture is a little hard to see, but it looks like the seller has removed the screen and placed it on top of the wood case, so this is obviously not in working order and might need a lot of cleanup. But the price isn’t terrible and maybe you’d like the challenge? It would be fun to have!
$50 OBO in Otterville, Missouri (about an hour southwest of Columbia, near Sedalia). Here’s the link: Vintage General Television.
Retro Kitchen Table & 4 Chairs. This set looks a little rough. The vinyl on the chairs looks like it might be dingy and torn, but the table is intact with a leaf. If you wanted to have an upholstery project for the summer, you could end up with a good deal here.
$40 in North Columbia. Here’s the link: Retro Table & 4 Chairs.
Coronamatic Typewriter. Wonderful condition! I have a blue vintage typewriter that was my mother’s, and I’ve been hauling it around for the past fifteen years. It finally has a good spot in my vintage home!
$45 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Coronamatic Typewriter.
Columbia Craigslist
Everyone must be spring cleaning! A whole lot of neat vintage stuff appeared on Craigslist over the weekend.
Heywood Wakefield Dresser with mirror. The seller emailed me personally so I am listing this one at the top. Good condition.
$500 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Heywood Wakefield dresser.
Kitchen Table and 4 Chairs. We see a lot of vintage Formica tables on Craigslist, and this is an earlier example of the style. I’ve seen this type before, but rarely in red! And it comes with four vinyl/chrome chairs. The seller says that three of the chairs are in perfect shape and one is not, but that might work for you if you want to put this table up against a wall in your kitchen!
$100 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Vintage Retro Dinette Table.
Swivel Chair. Wow! What style! I love that tulip/Eames base. I am certain that this has been reupholstered, but I think it looks pretty good. Seller says the chair was made in Switzerland.
$65 in Southwest Columbia. Here’s the link: Euro Swivel Chair.
White Danish Chair. This one is pretty stylish too. Check out the link for the other picture- I decided to highlight the fabric rather than the shape, but both look like they’re in excellent condition. Cream vinyl fabric, no major damage.
$25 in Columbia. Here’s the link: Retro Chair from 60s.
Student Desk. A bit scratched up, but it has a nice shape. My grandparents had some school desks in the basement, and we loved playing at them when we were little.
$10 in Jefferson City. Here’s the link: Student Desk.
Orange Chair. Somewhere between vintage modern and pub style.
$30 in Jefferson City. Here’s the link: Funky Orange Chair.
Yellow Bar Chair. Yellow vinyl and white metal. A little pricey compared to today’s other offerings, but honestly I think a lot of the other stuff above is priced way too low!
$70 (no location listed). Here’s the link: Vintage Mod Yellow Chair.
