Columbia Craigslist

Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend!  I love summer holidays.

Wood Dresser.  I am a little torn on this one.  The way the flash catches the wood, it looks like cheap veneer.  But the tapered legs tell a different tale, and the shape otherwise looks vintage.  The price might be worth a look in person to see if it’s just a bad photo.

$25 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Dresser.

Retro Table and Chairs.  Looks like four chairs, but it’s hard to tell the condition.  I think this is the type of formica table where the leaf is attached underneath.  Might be a good price if everything is in nice shape.

$99 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Retro Table & Chairs.

Old Pepsi Machine.  The seller is delightfully mum on the details, like a price or whether it’s in working condition, but he did upload several photos, so I’m linking it.  I like the sign on the side that reminds us to “Be sociable- Have a PEPSI”.  Nice.  I like old pop machines (and that’s what we call it here).

In Moberly.  Here’s the link: Old Pepsi Machine.

Vintage Electric Fans.  I’m all about the electric fans and pop machines these days.  Two electric fans, neither are working.  The larger one is a GE and for sale at $30.  Smaller is Chicago Electric Mfg Co, price $15.  Honestly, those are pretty high prices for nonworking fans in [what looks like] rusty condition.  But maybe you just want it for display and you want that rusty, weathered look.  That’s on you, friend.  Go for it.

$45 for both in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Vintage Electric Fans.

Vintage Coca-Cola Machine.  This one is newer than the Pepsi.  I want to say it’s from the 1980s.  The seller says the lights work and it gets very cold, but does not actually say that it works if you drop a coin in.  He does say that the key is included.

$400 in Mokane.  Here’s the link: Vintage Coca-Cola Machine.

4-Drawer Dresser.  Real wood, says the seller, and it is real wood underneath that veneer.  This looks to me like it was made in the late 1940s or early 1950s, more streamlined art deco than vintage modern.  I could be wrong.  I like the shape and condition overall.  Compare the veneer to the dresser I posted above- this looks better and more vintage-y, but the legs on the top one are more interesting.

$30 in Moberly.  Here’s the link: 4-Drawer Dresser.

I am home again!  June was a really crazy month, but it was almost entirely wonderful.  I spent the first half of it on a trip through Montana and Wyoming to the Yellowstone National Park area, indulging in my photography obsession.  (You can see me upload pictures as I process them on my Flickr account here.)  I came home and immediately went to a weekend family reunion, after which I returned to work for a few days but was sick with some kind of cold/flu bug that my family was passing around all month while both my work and home computers had to be completely rebuilt (oh so fun).  And then I left for a work trip to Washington, DC, where I attended a conference and then stayed on to see family & friends there.  I literally just returned last night.

Now it is July, and I am ready to be back to a normal life routine.  Part of that is updating this blog with all the great stuff that is available in our area in mid-Missouri.  (We are so lucky to live in this lush, green, beautiful, rolling countryside!)

Thank you for the notes that some of you sent while I was gone!  I really appreciate hearing from you and I’m glad that there are others who love mid-century modernism as much as I do.  I’m sorry if I didn’t respond to your email directly, but June was hectic.  I am glad to be home and feeling healthy, just in time for a three-day holiday weekend!

I won’t depress us by revisiting items that we missed while I was gone, but here’s a roundup of stuff on Craigslist from the past few days.  Take a look!

Old Electric Fans.  The seller set a price of $30, but it is unclear whether that is per item or for the lot.  I would guess that is per item, but that is not a bad deal because I like them.  Seller also has a small vintage box fan.  All of these are in working condition though one has a bad cord (seller does not clarify which one).  And seller is willing to trade for a men’s bicycle.

$30 in Moberly, Missouri.  Here’s the link: Old Electric Fans.

Retro Chair.  I am always on the lookout for a decent swivel rocker in the right color.  This isn’t the one for me, but maybe it is for you!  Can’t beat a swivel rocker if you’re the jittery type that likes to sit (like me!)  Seller says that color is olive green with a little fading on the seat.

$25 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Retro Chair.

1960s Range/Oven.  This is so cool that I can’t even stand it, but the price is insane even for this level of awesomeness.  Still, take a look at the other images to see that the range slides out like a drawer and those are the ovens on top with the glass doors.  The patterns on the glass are amazing, the handle is amazing.  If I had the right kitchen (and $1000 bucks for one vintage appliance), I would snap this up.

$1000 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: 1960 Stove Top/Oven.

Antique Pedal Car.  So cute, so vintage modern!  Love it.  Seller reports that it is in very good condition.

$195 in Jefferson City, Missouri.  Here’s the link: Antique Pedal Car.

Vintage General Television.  The only full size picture is a little hard to see, but it looks like the seller has removed the screen and placed it on top of the wood case, so this is obviously not in working order and might need a lot of cleanup.  But the price isn’t terrible and maybe you’d like the challenge?  It would be fun to have!

$50 OBO in Otterville, Missouri (about an hour southwest of Columbia, near Sedalia).  Here’s the link: Vintage General Television.

Retro Kitchen Table & 4 Chairs.  This set looks a little rough.  The vinyl on the chairs looks like it might be dingy and torn, but the table is intact with a leaf.  If you wanted to have an upholstery project for the summer, you could end up with a good deal here.

$40 in North Columbia.  Here’s the link: Retro Table & 4 Chairs.

Coronamatic Typewriter.  Wonderful condition!  I have a blue vintage typewriter that was my mother’s, and I’ve been hauling it around for the past fifteen years.  It finally has a good spot in my vintage home!

$45 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Coronamatic Typewriter.

Chromcraft Table and Chairs in Moberly

I love these chairs!

The seller emailed me with bigger pictures for this table & chair set that he posted on Craigslist, so I’ve uploaded them here.  He is pretty specific with details in the ad, and he is open to offers.

$120 for the set.  Here’s the link: Chromcraft ’69 Table and Chairs.

Columbia Craigslist

Retro Coffee Table with built-in turntable and radio.  Is it really a coffee table or just a low credenza?  Either way, seller says the phonograph works and that’s rare in these.  Not that they can’t be fixed, but it’s nice that this one doesn’t need it.  Several pictures in the ad.

$100 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Vintage Retro Coffee Table.

Baby Scale.  I posted one of these before because I thought it was interesting.  Then I saw a photographer use one of these as a prop for newborn baby photos, and I thought was on the cute end of the newborn-baby-photo-prop spectrum.  Has this one been painted matte white?  I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt and saying no.

$30 in Northeast Columbia.  Here’s the link: Antique Baby Scale.

Vintage Sleeper Sofa.  I like this green-gold vintage fabric.  It was very popular then.  Probably insanely heavy.

$50 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Vintage Sleeper Sofa.

Vintage Table.  Formica table with leaf and six vinyl chairs.  If the chairs are in good shape, this is a good price.

$200 in Rocheport (about 20 minutes west of Columbia).  Here’s the link: Breakfast Table.

(Fulton) Craigslist

A couple of items on Craigslist popped up.  Both are located in Fulton, Missouri, which is about a 30 minute drive from Columbia.

Formica Table & 4 Chairs.  Red & white and cute!  The table is in good shape, but the chairs have some rips in the original upholstery.  Everything needs cleaning.

$199 in Fulton.  Here’s the link: Vintage Formica Table.

Vintage Refrigerator.  White, probably Montgomery Ward brand, in working condition.

$100 in Fulton.  Here’s the link: Vintage Refrigerator/Freezer.

Columbia Craigslist

Orange Chair.  Metal frame with orange cushions.

$25 in Jefferson City.  Here’s the link: Orange Eames-Era Chair.

Formica Table and Chairs.  Black and white.  I can’t tell from the pictures if there are rips in the white part of the chairs, but the seller seems chatty and would probably tell you.

$150 in Centralia (about 20 miles northeast of Columbia).  Here’s the link: 50′s Stylish Table & 4 Chair Set.

Yellow Rocker.  Really cool with that side detail!  I like it.  The upholstery looks like it’s in good shape, and all the buttons seem to be included.  Nice.

$65 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: 1950′s Yellow Rocker.

Cedar Chest.  I’ve seen a few of these come up with the mid-century detailing.  It’s nice to have a cedar chest for blankets and wool clothes.  I love the cedar smell.

$85 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Lane Blonde Cedar Chest.

3ka3m03p85Q65T25Se9be26ac91e0e95f100e

Blonde Chairs.  3 chairs- two without arms and one with arms (I like it when they call them Captain’s Chairs).   Nice upholstery, I think.

$45 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: Blonde Chairs.

3n93p23od5Qa5R55S49be5c7b96984b1215d4

Vintage Chairs.  Two of them, and the seller says they’re in good shape.  I like the vinyl lace design.  These would be nice for a kitchen.  I’m sure that’s where they’re from.

$35 in Columbia.  Here’s the link: 2 Vintage Chairs.

St. Louis Craigslist

Looking for a reason to head to St. Louis this weekend?

3n23m03o55T55Sd5R79b59c8cf608ea7d1299

Kitchen Table Set.  I love the detail on the pink and slate tabletop, and the extra chrome detail on the blue chairs.  (I really love the metallic blue vinyl.  I think it’s my favorite color for metallic vinyl.)

$100 in St. Louis.  Here’s the link: Retro Dining Room Set.

3o93p13l25Qf5Ra5S49b478bf0f0c7123164e

Ceramic Punch Bowl.  The seller thinks you could use it as a soup tureen as well.  I’m not sure how big the cups are, but I like the color.  Very 70s.

$10 in Festus.  Here’s the link: Ceramic Soup Set.

3n23ke3o95Ob5Ta5R29b33b89cf1845b314f1

Tweed and Metal Chairs.  Looks like they’re in good shape.

$125 for both in Olivette.  Here’s the link: Retro Vintage Tweed Chairs.

3n83k03m15Od5Td5Pd9b6d309849670db1403

High Back Dining Chairs.  There are four of them.  If you have $300 to spend on vintage 1970s style dining chairs, you could do much worse.

$300 in Illinois (?).  Here’s the link: 1970′s White High Back Dining Chairs.

Kirksville and Columbia Craigslists

There are some new things on local Craigslists this morning!

3me3p83od5Q85Pa5S49ai9f8d3afad1461fd8

Metal Lawn Chairs.  Rough shape but a few cans of spray paint, and you’re in business.  This is a pretty good price too.

$30 in Kirksville.  Here’s the link: Lawn chair rockers (on Kirksville Craigslist).

3n43m93p65O25R95S29ak070b320396551e05

Chrome Table and Four Chairs.  It’s hard to tell what kind of shape the upholstery is in.  For this price, it better be pretty good.

$150 in Jefferson City.  Here’s the link: 1950′s Style Kitchen Table.

3n03m73l65Ta5Qc5Se9ai4b67b403f2221af8

Patio Set.  These might be a little newer than my style, but I like them.  They would go well on a 1960s style patio after they’ve been cleaned up.  I’ve even heard that you can get these professionally redone with powder coating, but you’d really have to be in love with them for that.

$50 in Kirksville.  Here’s the link: Two Chairs and Table (on Kirksville Craigslist).

Hope you’re having a great fall week!  It’s been pretty so far, but it’s supposed to rain for the next few days.
